The swing hit Booster solidly in the side of the head, as he was unable to dodge.
Man he's fast. Strong too. Booster rubbed the side of his head as he picked himself off the ground and fired dual lasers at Bane, hoping to slow him down. Or at least keep his attention off of Bast until she could recover her senses.
En Route to The Park.
Come on, Come on, move faster you stupid feet. Honestly, why couldn't I of been blessed with superspeed or something. . Owen complained as he ran towards the park, transforming as he moved.

Bane gazed at the fallen forms of Bast and Croc, and the wounded Booster. "Too easy." He stepped over Croc, stalking toward Booster, lifting an arm to block the lasers with an odd, blood-red bracer.
On the Way
As Owen ran, Seelie waved to him. "Reed!" She rushed to catch up. "Oracle told me to find you, and to get you there quickly. Something's gone wrong..." She focused, drawing on her own desperation as well as Owen's, and lifted her hand... and Owen found himself moving faster, covering more ground with a step. He quickly outpaced Seelie, and was nearly a hundred yards ahead of her by the time she finished casting the spell on herself.

The Midst of Battle.
Bast fought to get to her feet, a hand on her aching head. Ugh. . I'm so dizzy. . What happened? She glanced around with unfocused eyes, not really seeing anything, but hearing Booster's wounded grunt as Bane came bearing down on him. Booster! She tried to call out, but her voice wouldn't work.
No. . I. . I can't let this stop me. . if losing you hasn't stopped me, than this sure won't. . Selena Kyle tried to will herself to move, after a minute it began to work, and she was able to get to her feet, her eyes finding focus.
Meanwhile
Reed had no chance to thank Seelie, or focus on the negative thoughts that had just started flittering inside of his head. He arrived in the forest to see Bane holding a bloody Booster Gold up by his neck, a hand reeled back to make impact with the Golden boy's face. Bast was in the background, fighting her way to her feet, Croc lay unconscious on the ground.
Using the speed boost Seelie had blessed him with, Reed hurried in, grabbing Bast's fallen rod as he ran by. Than, he was behind Bane, swinging the rod with all his might plus a boost from the speed. The rod landed square on the side of Bane's head.
Once he was sure he had the big oaf's attention, Reed let out a wide, pointy toothed smile. "Hey, look, big boy? That aint your toy there, and its not nice to break things that belong to others. Mmkay?"

Bane smirked. "You're quick. Won't move so fast with shattered legs." He dove for Reed, his own speed letting him make a solid hit, sending Reed flying back. "You don't seem to understand something, redhead. None of you mooks do. You've fought Intergang, but they're just groupies and wannabes." He delivered another punch, slamming Reed against a tree. "You fought Croc, but he's small fry in this town... no offense."
Croc, stirring, mumbled, "S'alright."
A third punch again slammed Reed into the tree. "But I'm on a different level. I broke the Bat. I break people. And today, redhead, it's your turn. I'm going to break you."

Bane slammed his fist into Reed again, sending him further into the old oak tree. Assuming his foe is finished, Bane began moving back towards Booster and Bast.
". . .Hold on, Big and Angry." came Reed's voice from within the tree. "That quickness? that was a fluke really." After a grunt, he pulled himself out of the tree, and began walking towards a stunned looking Bane.
"You see. . .that's not why I hang around with the cowls and capes. I ain't the Flash." Reed looked at Bane with a wide smile. "But you see, my legs? They be working pretty good, for being shattered. So either, I ain't a people."
He got right up in Bane's face, so their noses were almost touching. "Or you're losing your touch."

Bane roared, drawing back two steps then charging straight into Reed, barreling into and through him, catching the red-headed man on his shoulder and running with his full strength and speed, the two of them tearing through trees and benches. As they hit a street, Bane smashed into a car, flinging it aside, bruising himself yet not harming Reed at all. Then he paused, a look of panic in his eyes as his body started to heat up.
"What..."
Reed, looking up, saw Seelie, near the ruins of the car he and Bane had slammed into, holding her hand up and chanting softly. Wisps of smoke started to rise from Bane's clothing as he cast about, seeking the cause of his new problem. Finally, his eyes settled on Seelie and narrowed, but before he had a chance to speak, Seelie interrupted.
"You might want to hold your temper, big man. You see... right now, I'm turning your rage into heat. I have enough control over the conversion that you haven't, and won't, burst into flame... soon, your body will warm enough that your brain will shut off to protect itself, then I will release the spell and you will wake up a few hours later, not much the worse for wear but behind bars. However, you let your temper go and come after me... too much power put into the spell, and by the time I get it toned down, you look more like Two-Face's bad side. Come slug me and break my concentration... same thing, most likely. Magic doesn't just stop working because the mage lost control of it; it starts consuming all the energy it has available. So... I think it's time you put my friend down."
Another wisp of smoke rose from Bane's clothes, and his eyes widened, Seelie's words starting to fully register. Then he flung Reed aside and started to run, dropping into the nearest sewer grate.
Seelie ran over to Reed, to make sure he was unhurt.

Reed stands up, and frowns slightly at Seelie. "Proud of the save, glad you got here when you did, but. ." He grins broadly. "Its a little embarrassing to have your butt saved by a pretty lady. Not to mention, what about Booster and Bast? I think they are worse off than I am."

The Park
Seelie nodded. "On my way to check on them. Let's go... and thanks." She smiled to him, a somewhat familiar smile, before heading off to find Booster and Bast.
Outsiders HQ, Later
Bast and Booster were bandaged and bruised, but likely to recover quickly, by the time Oracle reached the meeting room. "Sorry I'm late... my dad wouldn't let me out of his sight." She smiled to the group. "Well done. The mayor was saved, civilian injuries were minimized, and Croc's on his way to what will hopefully be a very long stint in Arkham. We also have a great deal more information on our enemies than we did before... today was an unqualified victory for our side. Congratulations.
"Bane's involvement worries me... he's got a mind as well-developed as Batman's or Ra's al Ghul's, and enjoys cruelty for its own sake. I've alerted the Justice League and my contacts with MCU to contact me if he's spotted anywhere." She finally reached the table, lifting her arms and rubbing her wrists. "I also received a call from Batman... he has a few weeks worth of work training new members of the Justice League. During that time, we're Gotham's front line.
"But for tonight... rest. Word will be spreading through the underworld of our defeat of Bane and Croc; no one's going to make a big move until they've thought through what that means. Again... thank you all. Also..." She looked sheepishly. "I planned to cook something for everyone, but I burned it. Would you mind helping me prepare a group dinner?"
Elsewhere
Shiv focused on the dummy, his eyes gazing at it with intense hatred. "Bane. You failed."
Bane paused at the entrance to the room. "Croc's no loss, and even if he was Arkham couldn't hold a determined twelve-year-old. 'Sides, I know what's up now."
Shiv turned to face Bane. "And what is 'up,' Bane?"
Bane smirked. "This new bunch. Egypt-girl, Golden Boy, Red, and Magic Lass, or whatever they call themselves. They're good, but Red's an interesting case. Didn't break."
Shiv kept his gaze on Bane, waiting for him to continue.
"There's a way to break everyone. I'm going to find how to break Red, then I'm going to do it, in front of his friends. Then, when they know even their invincible friend can't stop me, I'll break them too. But first... first, I need a way to learn more, faster."
Shiv smirked. "I'm not giving you resources to throw away, Bane."
"You won't have to. I broke the Bat; I can learn how to break Red the same way."

Selena smiled slightly, rubbing her neck to try to ease out the pain. "We could do it at my place. It's been completely remodeled since Croc paid his visit. My kitchen is absolutely gourmet. Homes and Gardens wants to do a photoshoot of it." She smiled, though Barbara caught sadness in her eyes. "What's the point of having something so fancy if you can't share it with those you love?"
Reed glanced at Selena, catching something was off, but proved unable to pick up on it. Part of it could be that his mind was focused on the smile Seelie had given him earlier. He usually wasn't swayed by a pretty face. Especially not after an intense battle. There was just something warm about that smile. Something familiar. . .

Barbara sat in her chair, mixing something involving flour and eggs and sugar with a wisk, humming softly to herself as she stirred. She looked up to Reed with a grin. "So I'm on dessert duty. What are you making?"
Reed glanced over at Barbara as his large hands held a large head of lettuce. "Salad. Apparently after I broke her casserole dish, Selena relagated me to doing the only thing I couldn't mess up." He smiled. "Luckily, I make a real mean salad."
Barbara grinned. "Lots of tomato, right?" She continued to mix, watching the lumps smooth out. "Seelie should be here soon... isn't she supposed to be bringing drinks?"
"Of course. Tomato and mushrooms. I think so. . .Selena is making the maincourse and taking care of the appetizers. Where did he learn to cook anyway? So that would leave Seelie with drinks."
Barbara laughed softly. "Selena Kyle is a woman of many and surprising talents." She turned to check on Selena.
Selena was peering in at the pot roast she had put in the oven. She noticed eyes on her and turned to Barbara, she smiled. Clad in a pristine white apron, Selena certainly did look at home in her kitchen. "How is the dessert coming?"
"Ready to hit the oven momentarily." Barbara grinned, rolling over to grab a pan for the cake. "Hoping I did this right..." Then the doorbell rang.
"I'll get it." Reed said, since his hands were the cleanest. He put the head of lettuce whole into the bowl he was working with, and went to Selena's door to open it. He wiped his hands on his jeans and opened the door.
Amanda Williams stood outside the door, in a red t-shirt and jeans, holding a case of Coke and a bag containing two bottles of wine. She blinked when she realized it was Owen who had opened the door, having expected Selena. Her voice came out in a surprised squeak. "Hey..."
"Selena, Barbara, Seelie picked up diet instead of regular coke. I'm going to go with her to pick up the correct kind. We'll be back." With that, Owen picked up the case of cola, and took Amanda by the hand before escorting her out of Selena's house. Back in the kitchen, Selena had just put Barbara's cake into the oven, and she cracked a knowing smile. "About time he found out."
Barbara shook her head. "I kept hoping she'd tell him. She didn't pick a great way to do so."
"Certainly not. If there is one thing I have learned from my relationship with Bruce was that hiding secrets never worked." She sighed. "I hope the talk goes alright. Though, I must say Owen is handling it well so far. Not causing a scene here."
Barbara got the batter into the pan and put it in the second oven, setting the timer. "We'll have to see."
Outside Selena's apartment building, Owen had stopped walking and let Amanda's hand go. Placing the case onto the pavement, he looked at Amanda again. His insides felt tied in knots, but he wasn't sure why. "So why didn't you tell me?"
"I'd stopped... while in college, I dropped my vigilante activities. Wasn't planning to pick them up again... but I found I couldn't stay away. And... then there you were, in Barbara's meeting. I talked myself out of it... I was scared."
Owen's heart melted, he just couldn't bear to see Amanda looking so scared. He reached out and took her hand, his tone of voice softening. "Hey, don't be scared. You can tell me anything, remember? 'Sides. I didn't exactly tell you when we were together either. So don't be scared, Manda.." His cheeks turned red as he accidently slipped and had used his old pet name for her.
Amanda blushed lightly in return. "I'm not really sure why I kept it from you so long... I was going to tell you tonight."
"Scared people do funny things." He grinned. "Come on. We better head back up. I don't want to miss Selena's pot roast, and I I think we're on the same team for Charades later." Without letting go of her hand, he picked the case of coke back up, and led Amanda back to Selena's apartment.

Owen's house, that evening
As he unlocked his front door, his thoughts were on Amanda. She's Seelie. She didn't tell me. Why was she scared to tell me? Owen asked himself as he stepped inside and kicked off his shoes. Is that why she dumped me? Because she is a super? He shook his head, trying to clear his thoughts. . . .Last night was almost like old times, but I feel so conflicted. I feel like I should be mad at her, but I want to embrace her again. I want to embrace her, but I don't want to ruin what I have growing with Barbara.
He dropped his keys on the table, and headed to the kitchen to put away the leftovers Selena had sent home with him. And to grab a beer. He popped open the top, and took a swig. I really enjoy Barbara's company. She's gorgeous, smart. I feel like I can be myself around her. That is what attachment, affection, is supposed to feel like. Barb is just. . reserved. I don't know if she feels the same about me. And its too early to ask, I'm sure. He sighed, glancing at his now half empty bottle of beer. He grabbed another from the fridge than headed to his living room.
He grabbed the remote for his stereo, aimed, and soon the room was full of classic rock tunes.
And I know 'Manda felt that way about me once. But again, why did she break up with me? And why does it feel like it never happened? How should I act? Which path do I choose? Or do I choose?
"Girls are difficult." He muttered, sitting on his sofa and hanging his head.
