Renee nodded, taking the map. "Be careful, Jack, and thank you." She then turned, making her way to the manhole and pulling it aside, dropping down into the sewers.

It did not take Renee long to make it into the school through the sewers. She had stepped out of the sewer and into the trash room behind the cafeteria. The school was dark, all the lights off.
She stepped into the hallway, noting a light at the end of the hall, coming out of a door labeled Library

Renee peeked into the hall, eyes moving over the corridor to make sure it was clear before withdrawing a small baton. After a moment's consideration, she started to make her way toward the library.

Library
Renee entered into the library, her foot stepping on a loose floor board causing a squeak to announce her arrival. Two things popped into Renee's head. Why does a school library have hard wood floors, and why are there torches hung on the wall?
Indeed there were torches, hung in metal sconces, lining the wall. Purple tapestries lined with gold hung between the sconces. All of the bookcases in the library seem to of disappeared, and all the books were piled into mountainous hills in the center of the room. Ontop of the book mountain sat a slip of a boy. Looks about twelve years of age. Thick glasses, unruly brown hair, intelligent brown eyes. He didn't look up as Renee entered, but he spoke.
"Welcome. Take a seat." His voice was soft, gentle, as he waved his hand and a cushy purple arm chair appeared out of nowhere and began to gently nudge Renee until she sat down.

Renee looked around the room. Strange, but Charlie took me to stranger places. She turned her eyes on the boy. "I think I'll stand until you tell me what's going on here." Her hand went up to adjust her hat on her head.

Library
The kid turned towards Renee, his glasses sliding down his nose. ". . All I know is I can't leave. My friends can't leave... Are you going to save us?"

"That is what I'm here for." Renee made her way to one of the tapestries, inspecting it. "Could you tell me what happened?"

The boy slipped down, sliding down the pile of books. He walked over to Renee, and looked up at her. "I would, but I can't. All the kids know is that we have been held after every day for months for detention. But none of us could remember the hours we spent there..." He shook his head, causing his glasses to slide down his nose. He pushed them back up with his index finger before looking at Renee again.
"Just today.. there were some.. changes. During lunch, a few of us detenionees started exhibiting powers. I presume we were experimented on during detention, but I have no proof." He waved his hand, and the library returned to a normal library. "That's mine. I don't know how to define it yet, I seem to be able to transmute objects into something similar. Brick walls to stone, flourescent lights to torches." He shrugged, becoming more confident as he spoke. "My manifestation is easy to hide. But Jim and Amber's... not so much. They're all in the gym, trying to figure out a way out. I'll take you there."
He extended his hand, on which he wore a large silver ring. "My name is Tolmar Grieves."

"I am the Question." Renee shook Tolmar's hand, her eyes moving over the library. That's... the kind of power that would make Adam jealous. I wonder if it works on people... if so, I really hope this kid stays as pleasant a person as he seems to be now. Seems to operate based on the purpose of things rather than their physical form - torches and light bulbs don't have much in common other than that people use them to illuminate things. "I'd appreciate you taking me there. Can you tell me anything about the people you think experimented on you?" The others' manifestations are difficult to hide... I wonder if their powers have changed their appearances? Well, more important questions to ask, since that one's going to be answered in a few moment without me having to ask it. "And who informed you of these detentions?"

Tolmar led Question towards the gym, answering her questions as they walked. "Our teachers. The head of the science department, Prof. Lipton. Head of the math department Mr. Walbur. P.E. teacher, Coach Deino." He shook his head, ashamed of the administration. "And of course the principal. The teachers informed us of our detentions. I got mine from Coach Deino, because I'm not very good at sports. Jim got his from Mr. Walbur because he's not very good at his studies, Amber got hers from Prof. Lipton though I'm not sure why." His eyes clouded over and he looked very angry. "Though I have my suspicions." He clenched his fist, and took a few deep breaths. "And Jael. . She didn't do anything really except stick up for all of us."

Question nodded, listening to all of that before stopping at the door. She gazed at it a moment, as if checking it for signs of tampering, before speaking again. "I will get you and your friends out of here, and I will learn the truth of what has been happening here... and I will keep you safe." She then reached for the doorknob.

The door swung open as Renee pulled the handle. The gym looked like every other highschool gym. Bleachers lining the walls, basketball hoops hung from the ceiling, shiny and slick wooden floor painted with white, blue and red lines.
At the top of the bleachers farthest from the door Renee and Tolmar came through were a small group of figures, dressed in hooded sweatshirts. There was a rather large, burly one, sitting next to a slight, more girly form both of whom had their hoods up. Sitting a few rows down, was another person, a girl whose long chesnut brown hair hung down obscuring her face as she furiously read a stack of papers in her lap.

The Question entered the room after Tolmar, casting her hidden eyes over it before speaking softly. "Tolmar... are these your friends?" She waved to them.

Tolmar nodded. "Jael, Jim and Amber. I told them I would find someone to help." He looks at Question, pushing his glasses back up his nose. "Looks like you'll have to do." He had a small grin.

Question turned her gaze on Tolmar, laughing a bit internally. "Well, you know, not everyone can be Batman." She looked to the others. "I have a way out of here. Come with me."
