Fitz and Faron were running as fast as they could down the route to Radio Village as the sky grew darker.
Cynthia had followed the Alkazam's advice and had not returned to the rancher's home. She instead was continuing towards Azalea.
Cynthia saw the Gastly first, as he was able to move much faster than Faron, and Fitz was keeping pace with her.
"We've. . huff. . . got to . . huff. .. find a place. . huff. . to hide." Faron wheezed when she and Fitz came into Cynthia's field of vision. "The. . huff. . . they'll be here soon. . got to hide. . ." She began looking around franticly, noticing an abandoned building just off the path.
She took a step towards it, and than collapsed, her ankle twisted. "Ahhhh..."

Cynthia rushed over to them, looking up toward the sky. What is coming? She turned her eyes on the twins, speaking to Fitz. "Her left side." Fitz blinked, not getting it, as Cynthia moved to Faron's right side, helping her stand. "Her left side, boy. Help her walk!"
Fitz blinked, then nodded. "Ah!" He slipped his arm around his sister's waist from the left, letting her support herself with his shoulder, while Cynthia did the same on her right. "Whatever is coming, I do not want to be here when it arrives. Let's get her indoors." As she spoke those words, she noticed the creatures the twins were carrying. Unknown creatures, likely Pokemon. Just like my oddly-colored avian friend. Too visible, and obvious, like this... if I see theirs now, and recognize them as rare Pokemon, any Pokebandit or would-be Rocket would do the same. Have to see if I can coax my new friend into a Pokeball once we're safe.
She didn't stop moving as she thought, allowing Fitz to set a brisk pace toward the building.

Inside the cottage they found a rickety old bed, a bedside table with a wilted flower in a vase, and a bookshelf void of books.
"Ooo... I'll be alright. . Thank. . shh!" Faron said, bringing her finger to her lips. Footsteps were heard outside.
"Manny, you sure the kids came this way? We don't even know if what they found were what we were lookin' for." A whispered voice said, remarkably close to the cottage.
"Shuddap. O' course they were. The boss said our targets were landin' close to Azalea, and it'll be our hide if we come back withou' 'em!"
". . . Well, Manny. .if you hadn't insisted on hitting on that poor girl with the bulbasaur. ."The quiet voice spoke again, this time with a little bit of a chuckle in his voice.
"Ahh Shaddup. We'll find 'em. Maybe they're in this 'ere cottage." The doorknob began to jiggle.
"Not nice to attempt to break into people's houses, Manny." The other voice said.
"Shaddup." Manny replied.
Just as the door was about to open when a bubble suddenly appeared inside the cottage, between the door and Cynthia and the twins. The bubble was small at first, but expanded rapidly, bursting just in time to make the man who was inside the bubble act as a doorstop as the door began to swing open.
"Ah, sumtines in the way. 'Elp me push it." Manny grunted.
Gil, who was a fast thinker, could not help but noticed the frightened look on Faron's face. He held his bundle close, and than called out. "Hey now. Visitors!"
Gil swung open the door, grinning wide, his broad shoulders easily blocking Faron, Fitz and Cynthia from view. His height of 5'11" helped as well. "How can I help you boys?" He said, his voice taking on a higher pitch.
"Ah.. Um... We's lookin' for two kids. Stole sumthin of ours."
"Manny, they aren't exactly kids. Well, maybe the girl. And the 'Mons weren't exactly ours. ." The quiet voice whispered.
"Shaddup!"
"Well, there are no kids here, but if you boys want to come in for a drink, I'll be happy to entertain you." Gil winked at the two burly men outside of the cottage, while fighting back a horrible urge to retch all over them.
"Ah. Nah, thats all right.. I thin' I see 'em goin thattaway." Manny and his cohort hurried off.
Gil swung the door closed, turning to face Cynthia, Fitz and Faron. The first think they noticed about him besides his girth were his crystal clear blue eyes, perhaps the most startling blue eyes they have ever seen. Than they noticed the cross look on his face.
"All right. Start talking, explain to me why I just frightened away a pair of 'Mon haters just to save your hides?"

Cynthia's hand rested against the butt of her pistol, but she made no move to draw - too many odd, dangerous things had happened thus far today for her to be off her guard, but her initial impression of Gil was that he seemed good-hearted - an impression strengthened by his efforts to protect her and the twins. "My name is Cynthia Stephens. As for why they were after us..."
She flicked her head, pulling her hair over her shoulder, revealing the two shapes tucked in the collar of her coat - Squeaky, and the small blue bird, which she coaxed onto her free hand. "Rare Pokemon."
Fitz blinked. "You found one too, Miss?" He looked down to the small shape against his left arm. "They're babies, aren't they?"
Cynthia nodded. "I believe so." She sat on the floor, letting the bird walk around a bit. "And those bandits knew where you two found yours. Tell me... what are your names?" She turned her eyes on Gil for a moment. "As for you... I have answered your question, and thus it is my turn. Your arrival was quite fortuitous, and I thank you for your help. How did you come to be here?"

"My name is Faron. This is Fitz. We're Panzers." Faron smiled, think of Panzer tanks she had read about in a children's book years ago. She stroked Longsilver's head. "This is Longsilver. I think he likes me."
Skeets bobbed up and down, in the middle of everyone. "Oh, that is Skeets. He's adorable." Faron said, gushing over her ghost type pokemon.
When Cynthia addressed Gil, he merely shrugged. "Dunno. I think it has something to do with this little lady." He unwraps a bit of bundle, exposing the cat like face of the 'Mon he had found. It opened its gray eyes and almost seemed to smile. "Mu."
Skeets floated over to it, and smiled. "Gaaast!" He than floated over to the little blue bird, and smiled at it as well, as if giving its approval.
"As for me, my name is Gil." Gil said, running a hand through his rather long dirty blonde hair. "Also, could you tell me where we are? Cause I have no fricken clue."

"Old Ilex Forest, between the Goldenrod Ruins and Azalea." Cynthia rose to her feet, touching Skeets lightly in greeting, then reached into her pouch. "It appears that we have all stumbled upon rare Pokemon. What this means is that we will be pursued... Pokebandits, would-be Rockets, Pokehaters, and Saffron militants will all try to take them if they know." She withdrew from her pouch four hand-made Pokeballs - Love Balls, from pink Apricorns. "See if you can coax them into these. If we can hide them, we will have a far better chance of keeping them safe." She handed one to each of the others, then knelt down to speak with her bird.
Fitz took his Love Ball, looking at Jill. "You need to get in here... it'll be safer. I'll let you out to play a lot, though... as often as I can. Please?"

Jill looked at the pink ball, tapping it with her nose. She seemed to trust Fitz. Longsilver readily went into the pokeball offered to him, but Faron soon let him out so he could play with Skeets.
The bird looked at Cynthia, than at the ball, and than at Cynthia again. "Arou." It said in simple protest.
Gil held his ball in his hands, and than swiftly put it into his backpack. "Thank, but no thanks." He said to Cynthia as the little kitten thing flew out of the bundle to sit on Gil's shoulder. "Now, dont you think its odd? All of us, four rare pokemon. Meet up in this abandoned cottage? Come on, dont tell me I'm the only one suspecting something."

Cynthia shook her head with a little smile. "All right, you can stay out for now, but you have to promise that you will go in when I ask you to later... it will be very important."
She looked to Gil. "I do not think it is odd; I know it is." She proceeded to relay, as concisely as she could, her encounter with the old Alakazam. "I think you are the ones he said I would meet, which means our destination is Indigo... as little as I relish the idea of traveling into the shadow of Mount Silver." She sighed, glancing out the window. "Unless your friend can teleport all of us there, I suggest that we go overland to New Bark. Avoid the ruins and the usual routes."
Fitz blinked. "We just came from Azalea... won't going back there be dangerous?"
Cynthia shook her head. "Possibly, but no moreso than any other direction we could take. Those bandits have likely continued toward Ville Adore del Sol after Gil convinced them that the two of you had left, so we know that going north to loop around Mount Silver will have us following them. We do not know if they left any allies in Azalea. That is the safer way, by the information we have."

"Fitz. We'll go to Azalea." Faron said, reaching out and putting her hand on her brother's arm. "Remember? I knew we'd end up going back."
Gill sighed, shaking his head as he leaned back against the cottage's wall. An old Alkazam. Like the one mentioned in the journal I found. His eyes went from Cynthia to Fitz to Faron, and than to the odd pokemon, including the one on his shoulder. I don't know what's going on, but I can't let them face danger alone. "We should sleep here for the night. Might not be the most comfortable, but the rain is going to start soon."
He stepped forward, removing his coat. He walked over to Faron and dropped it around her shoulders. "It's going to get chilly. This place isn't insulated." He than walked over to the bed, and checked out the mattress. After a moment he flipped it out of its frame. "Mattress seems okay. Don't trust the frame. Should be big enough for Cyn and Faron. I'll sleep on the floor by the door. Fitz, sleep under the window?"

Fitz nodded. "I can do that." He moved over to the window, leaning back against it before looking to the others. "If something tries to come in... what should I do?"
Cynthia moved to sit on the mattress, feeling it. Amazing that it's not half-rotten. "Wake the rest of us up." She rose to her feet, to the bedframe, kneeling and finding the leg in the best condition before pulling it off the rest and handing it to Fitz. "Hit them with this."
Fitz glared at the leg before setting it aside. "I think I've got a better plan than that."
Cynthia smirked. "Suit yourself. Sleep quickly and lightly. I plan to start not long after the sun rises." She looked to Gil. "Thank you for earlier." And, with those words, she is asleep.
Fitz blinked. "Out already?" He looked to the others. "So, Gil... where are you from?"

Gil looked over at Fitz, a smile on his face but a sad look in his eyes. "Cinnabar."
Cinnabar had long been a forgotten city, thought to of been destroyed in a long serious of pokemon stampedes. Rumors were that a few people had survived, but the raging waters have kept people from entering or leaving.

Fitz winced at that, looking down a moment before speaking again. "How long has it been? Since you've seen home, I mean.

"Not since I was six." Gil answered looking away for a moment while the kitten thing on his shoulder patted his head.
When he turned back to face Fitz, he looked better, at least less sad. "So, Fitz, right? Tell me about you and your sister."
As if on cue, Faron rolled over in her sleep, clutching the jacket tighter around her shoulders.

"She's a fortune teller. I try to keep her safe." Fitz shrugged. "We travel around a bit, but usually stay in the general area." He smiled a bit. "It's been rough at time, but we've always had enough to eat and usually found shelter for sleeping, so it's been okay." He glanced toward the girls, sleeping on the mattress. "I've never been further east than New Bark."

Gil smiled slightly. "Its a lot of water, and a ruined city. Not much to see east of New Bark. Though, it looks like we are going to have too." He settled himself against the door, closing his eyes.
"We'll have to make a plan of some sort tomorrow. Got to keep those girls safe. Especially that sister of yours."
