History: The second child and first daughter of Meliota al'Mar, Queen of Andor and Protector of the Realm, Lancelle was expected to take her mother's place on the throne. She was raised as the Daughter-Heir, taught statecraft at an age when most girls were learning to tie their own hair-ribbons. Her mother's Aes Sedai advisor, Marian Tupador, sensed in Lancelle the spark of a wilder and had her sent to the White Tower for training. Her brother and First Prince of the Sword, Reginald, accompanied her.
In the Tower, Lancelle excelled. She was one of the most powerful Novices of her generation, and that, combined with her knowledge of statecraft and family connections, convinced the Sisters that she would go far. She was a Novice for three years and Accepted for two before being elevated to the rank of Aes Sedai. Though the Blue and Green Ajahs courted her, she chose the Grey.
A month before her rise, however, trouble rose in Andor. The Children of the Light, fearing the possible ascension of a channeler Queen, began to move forces into the southern portion of the nation. Suing for peace, Meliota was forced to disown her eldest daughter to avoid a costly war, passing the title of Daughter-Heir to younger daughter Alymere. Reginald remained with Lancelle, taking his place at her side as her Warder, passing the position of First Prince to Alymere's twin brother Pelleas.
After her raising, Lancelle was one of the four Aes Sedai in the room when old Gwyneth - a woman no one remembered the family name of - had her foretelling. "He is born! He is born! The earth cries with his coming! The skies rejoice at his rise! The Dragon is reborn!" The force of the Foretelling killed the old woman; disease and assassins over the next two years took the other three, leaving Lancelle alone in a quest she never wanted - the search for the Dragon Reborn.
